US Government fires head of MMS

The US Government has fired Elizabeth Birnbaum, Director of Mining Management Services, with immediate effect, according to reports.

The announcement was made by US Interior Secretary in Congress. Her dismissal was directly related to the worst ever oil spill off the coast of the United States in the Gulf of Mexico.

It was alleged that she had resigned at her own win, according Secretary Ken Salazar. Birnbaum was ssaid to have held her position since July 2009. Her dismissal is most probably related to her alleged so-called “inefficient supervision and buddy clocking with the private sector.”

Five weeks ago a BP deep drilling oil well blew up and caused a catastrophic spill that rescue operators have only now began to contain in some way.
